Swamp Milkweed is a native perennial wildflower known for its clusters of fragrant, pink to mauve flowers that bloom in mid to late summer. Unlike Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), Swamp Milkweed has a more refined, upright growth habit and thrives in moist environments, making it an excellent choice for rain gardens, wetlands, and pollinator-friendly landscapes.

•Height: 3–5 feet

•Spread: 2–3 feet

•Sun Requirements: Full sun to partial shade

•Soil Preferences: Moist to wet soils; tolerates clay, loam, and sandy soils

•Water Needs: Moderate to high; thrives in wet conditions but can tolerate periodic dryness

•Growth Habit: Upright, clump-forming, with lance-shaped leaves and deep pink flowers

Host Insect:

Serves as a host plant for Monarch butterfly caterpillars.

•Attracts a variety of native bees, including bumblebees and sweat bees.
